Position Summary:The Data Analyst is responsible for the spatial and temporal analysis of datasets with the goal of supporting and developing derivative datasets for use in conjunction with existing NAVTEQ products. This may include developing prototype datasets, defining testing parameters to ensure output quality, and supporting and developing production grade processes through their transition from prototype to commercial product.Responsibilities may also include creating and maintaining commercial release of products according to the requirements of product management. The Data Analyst will react to the needs and priorities of product management based on the change in business needs.The main purpose of this position is to conduct research and analysis on the above-mentioned activities. This position will directly support the development and production managers/teams within the Map & Knowledge Based Data group. Responsibilities:- Generate and test value statement hypotheses for new datasets envisioned to provide entirely new types of functionality for location and time based applications.- Develop prototype data products and provide performance analysis of product. - Execute processes to create prototype products.- Develop & maintain production grade products by working with internal groups such as DMO and product management, and external groups such as the TMC Forum and industry alliances.- Create, maintain, and expand, as necessary, geo-spatial referencing database components.- Demonstrate knowledge of data manipulation and visualization skills. Implement geospatial technology into existing processes in order to utilize and recommend the most effective tools for task completion.- Create documentation for all aspects of ongoing processes in preparation for ISO certification and review.- Other development and maintenance projects as directed by managers.Requirements:- University degree, GIS degree/certification desired.- A minimum of two years professional experience in a development environment utilizing commercial grade database management systems.- Knowledge of GIS, SQL, Microsoft Excel, Access, and Project. Ability to run JAVA, Oracle, and XML based tools. Programming/scripting knowledge a plus.- Strong creative approach to solving new data processing problems with limited guidance.- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.- Excellent oral and written communications skills
