Job Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES• Prepare plans, sections, figures, maps, posters and various other graphic documents in support of broad spectrum of projects using Bentley Microstation and ESRI products• Assist in the management and archiving of CADD data files• GIS data compilation, data analysis, modeling, and mapping in support of full-range of environmental and cultural resources assignments• Utilize GIS analyses to assist other professionals in performing projects and drawing conclusions regarding sensitive features, impacts, and mitigation measures• Liaison with the headquarters systems administrator to keep computer network running and secure, backing up files and being first responder to computer problems in the office• Assist with development and maintenance of project web sitesREQUIRED EDUCATION AND SKILLS• B.S. degree or higher in Environmental Science, Planning, Geography, Cartography, Earth Science, Information Technology or related field, with significant course work in GIS• Individual must have experience using GIS analysis and mapping software to support environmental and engineering project, preferably involving spatial analysis and the preparation of documents related to planning and/or NEPA compliance. • A minimum of five years experience using ESRI products (ArcGIS, ArcInfo, ArcView) and Bentley Microstation to support environmental and engineering projects • Proficient in the use of Bentley Microstation version 8 and large format plotters and scanners, with strong knowledge of digital file management• Working knowledge of land surveying concepts and importing GPS field data to delineate features/boundaries on mapping• Ability to work on multiple project assignments concurrently while adhering to schedules and budgets• U.S. Citizen willing to obtain a security clearance if needed for project assignmentsDESIRED SKILLS• Strong capabilities with Microsoft Office Suite • Experience with an environmental/engineering consulting firm preferred• HTML and Visual Basic programming and web site design/hosting capabilities• Use of Google Earth, Sketch-up and other imagery and graphics tools• Strong written and oral communications skills preferred.

GIS Technician(City of Raleigh)

Job Description:
1 year of experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software. HS Diploma (or GED) supplemented by two years of college-level coursework in GIS, drafting, CADD, geography, planning, or other related GIS field. Knowledge of GIS, preferably ESRI ArcGIS 9.2 and of maps and map design. Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microstation preferred. Ability to produce neat and accurate maps and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments and organizations. Strong editing skills and experience in GPS field data collection. GISP certification is preferred. A Valid NC Class "C" Driver's License.

Job Requirements
Reads and digitizes as-builts; edits data for the Public Utilities infrastructure base maps. Creates and maintains a wide variety of GIS databases, maps, and reports. Participates in field work/survey for documenting utilities infrastructure with a GPS. Obtains information about data sets and updates metadata records. Receives, documents, and prepares information responding to requests. Troubleshoots and maintains GIS related equipment. Educates co-workers and other City employees about GIS information and its uses. May perform analysis to develop departmental models.
