Position Description:
The Physical Plant Division at the University of Kentucky is seeking an outstanding, professional individual to provide technical leadership, expertise, and support to the Geographical Information System (GIS) Services area. The GIS Analyst will create and maintain database design of University geodatabases which includes developing and converting geospatial datasets that adhere to industry standards, manage versioned enterprise geodatabase workflows, analyze databases for logical consistency, develop and maintain utility and transportation networks, and maintain database topologies to ensure database integrity. This position will also be responsible for managing GIS departmental standards and procedures, including developing logical queries for spatial analysis and map production, developing custom routines to automate geodatabase maintenance and improve software efficiency, working with CAD personnel to develop inter-departmental data creation standards, performing, ensuring, and developing quality assurance procedures, designing and managing map templates, and creating and maintaining metadata. The successful applicant must be able to produce high-quality analytical maps and other graphical outputs to meet customer needs, maintain printable campus maps via the web, create and maintain historical campus map library, employ geospatial technologies to facilitate dissemination of GIS, produce campus routing products including utilities, sidewalks, and interior spaces, and develop and maintain archiving system. Additional responsibilities of the position include providing GIS technical support, researching, evaluating, and recommending software, overseeing installation of GIS Software, assisting with the design of software applications, and testing GIS-based web and desktop software.
Knowledge of ArcGIS, CASE Tools, Microsoft Office, SQL Server, SQL, XML, ArcObjects, ModelBuilder, PhotoShop, AutoCAD. Cartographic product development expertise. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
