Full Professorship (W3)
for
Human Geography with emphasis on human-environment relations


commencing as soon as possible


The successful candidate is expected to represent the entire field of human-environment relations in research and teaching at the university and will be expected to have an exceptional record as a scientist and educator in the field of coupled human-environment systems. He or she should be willing and able to play a significant role in shaping the Department´s future profile in the research domain of regional sustainability. Preferable is expertise in one or more of the following “global change”-research areas: land-use change/land-use conflicts, resource consumption/resource allocation, global urbanization, mobility and migration or nutrition and consumption patterns.

Candidates must have a successful history of external funding and must be capable of planning and executing cooperative projects within and beyond the Department of Geography.

Responsibilities include teaching on the Bachelor, Master and PhD level and within the teacher-training courses in Geography as well as serving the academic community.

Prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree, teaching skills at university level and a post-doctoral degree (Habilitation) or equivalent qualification that may have been gained outside the university or may consist in a junior professorship.

Candidates for this position should be aged 52 or under at the time of appointment. Exceptions thereto may be considered in the case of outstanding candidates.
