Position Description:

SUMMARY

This position requires the design, layout, and production of GIS datasets and cartographic outputs for use in 3D simulation environments. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential. The position is responsible for the importation, generation, and manipulation of vector and raster datasets for input to simulation database development in support of the Production team. The GIS Analyst functions as a geospatial data content developer for the production of visual or common environment database products. An extensive knowledge of shapefiles and personal or enterprise geodatabases is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties maybe assigned.
• 2+ years professional experience using ESRI software
• Proven proficiency in ArcGIS 9x
• General knowledge of GIS related hardware, software, and networking
• Knowledge of principles of cartography
• Knowledge of principles of metadata generation and maintenance
• Knowledge of principles of attribution and feature classes
• Ability to perform quality control checks of data created by other GIS professionals
• Vector and raster data management and data format conversion experience
• Strong self-starting skills
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Team player with the ability to operate efficiently and autonomously in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and SEI CMMI is an asset
• Strong oral and written communication skills

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS include the following:

Knowledge of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) GIS toolsets including:
ESRI ArcGIS (ArcView, ArcEditor, ArcMap, ArcInfo), Production Line Tool Set (PLTS), VLS Feature and Lidar Analyst, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Intergraph GeoMedia or similar tools.

Knowledge of GIS source data formats:
Shapefile, Geodatabase (personal or enterprise), NAVTEQ, Quickbird, Ikonos, SPOT, Landsat, CIB, ADRG, CADRG, RPF, DTED, NITF, Geo TIFF, and Mr.SID etc.
