Position Description:

Western Land Services, Inc. is a motivated oil and gas brokerage service company providing land regulatory services to oil and gas companies and utilities. Our growing organization - which includes offices in Michigan, Wyoming, Utah, Arkansas, and Pennsylvania - is seeking a full time GIS Specialist for our Canonsburg, PA office.

GIS Specialist job duties (include but are not limited to): incorporate GIS data from variety of sources with ability to convert data between various file types; maintain data layers: leasehold, pipeline, wells, parcels, etc. for several projects covering many states; produce maps for internal and client use so that intelligent decisions can be made; analyze datasets to provide answers for internal use.

Requirements:

• BS/BA degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field;

• Minimum of 1 year experience working with ESRI ArcGIS software

• Strong understanding of cartographic principles, projections, data management, digital map production, hard copy presentations, and quality assurance/quality control;

• Knowledge of ESRI Geodatabase design structure and management, as well as general database knowledge, including the manipulation of tabular data in GIS, and summarizing, joining, and linking related data;

• Experience working with land records maintenance including land surveys, coordinate geometry (COGO) and reading legal descriptions;

• Strong communication skills and attention to detail;

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with co-workers and clients;
